BLUE SKY RED STONE TRAIL RACE SERIES
The Blue Sky Red Stone Trail Race Series is a new trail race series organized by brothers Dennis and Paul Vanderheiden (owner of Timberline Events LLC and Race Director of the Wild West Relay). They have combined their talents and passion for providing scenic and professionally run races to the Front Range of Colorado by announcing the Blue Sky Red Stone Trail Race Series. The series will provide challenging courses among some of the finest trails/open spaces in Larimer County.
Our series includes the following races:
Lory State Park, offering a 6.9 or 14-mile distance, is located in the foothills next to Horsetooth Reservoir. This is the location of the opening race of the series on May 23rd.
The Horsetooth Mountain Trail Race on June 13th in Horsetooth Mountain Open Space is the setting of the second race of the series. This race offers a 7.3-mile and 13-mile courses with elevations starting at 5800 ft and a total vertical climb of 1950 ft. The open space is known for its waterfalls and fabulous views of the Front Range.
Our premier race is the Red Mountain Trail Race. Timberline Events is grateful and honored to be given an opportunity by Larimer County Parks to provide a unique trail race event at the new Red Mountain Open Space on July 11th. This 15-mile race (we're still working on the course), to date, is the only organized race approved in this park. This is a unique, pristine area with incredible scenic, natural, and cultural values and history. In fact, until this area became a park, very few people had been through this area as it has been a private ranch for a couple hundred years. As such, this race is limited to only 100 participants.
Be sure to also read and be familiar with our Race Rules before registering. And you can save $10 by signing up for the series (long course distances) before May 21st.
The Trail Race Series will benefit Athletes in Tandem, Inc. (501(c)(3). The mission of Athletes in Tandem is to provide physically challenged athletes with motor disabilities an opportunity to pursue an active lifestyle by participating with a non challenged athletes. Participants will experience running, cycling, swimming and triathlon events otherwise not available to them.
